Soon pinppl will support all popular image formats, such as GIF, PNG, TIFF, etc. There’ll be formatting options for your profiles: colors, size … the ability to add links, and some other cool stuff.
The formatting stuff should actually be there – but isn’t due to an incompatibility with the server’s software. I hope to have this worked out pretty soon.
